He must increase, but I must decrease”. –John 3:30

In the Gospel of John, there is a passage that talks about how John shared the importance of Jesus’ increase and his decrease. This symbolizes the very essence of a heart totally surrendered to God. This is what God wants from each of us!

I admit that I’ve been struggling with this. It’s like a battle of the wills: God vs me. That is not even a match up!!! God has given us a gift called free will. With this gift, we get to choose: God’s divine way or our flawed way. Choosing wisely is essential to life or death. Our spirit is always willing but our flesh is not.

God requires total submission. He’s not trying to kill us, He’s growing us. Growth is not always comfortable but necessary for productivity. Only He knows the BEST for you. Only He can prosper you, provide for you, and lead you into destiny. Only He can minister and mend the broken areas in your life.

So, may you and I both humbly (not grudgingly) surrender to God with a YES! Yes to His will even when you don’t know how long, where, how it looks, and all the other details. He’s trustworthy, all knowing, and is the only true and living God! If He holds the world don’t you know your life is not too much for Him?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for reviving our hearts to you. Help us trust you always.

In Jesus name, Amen.
